PenFed Credit Union CD Rates

[Updated: 3/26/09] I thought I would take a quick moment to update Pentagon Federal Credit Union’s CD Rates. Unlike many banks of the same size they are quite healthy. Their longer-term CDs are the most competitive at this time.

They have a 3-year CD Rate of 3.50% APY. The 4-year CD Rate is 3.75% APY and the 5-year and 7-year CD rates are 4.00% APY.

For more details on PenFed from my previous post check-out Pentagon Federal Credit Union CD Rates. They have a pretty easy membership process.

Alliant Credit Union CD Rates

Alliant Credit Union has decent CD Rates. As rates were coming down they continued to have rates above market. However, as rates have begun to come back up they have been slow to respond and are being left behind.

Their Certificate of Deposit Rates are as follows:

1-Year CD 3.90%
2-Year CD 4.05%

Like some credit unions out there they do allow for nationwide membership by joining an association. In Alliant’s case it is the National PTA. Another thing to note is that the interest is only paid out at maturity. You can not receive the interest on a monthly basis, so this CD is not good for those seeking monthly income.

Alliant’s NCUA# is 67955. They are federally insured just like an FDIC insured bank. They currently have about $5.3BB in assets and are fairly large as far as credit unions go. Unlike many banks, they do currently have a healthy profit and have a nice Equity/Asset ratio of 11.79%.

The website address for their rates is www.alliantcreditunion.org/services/rates/.
The main site is www.alliantcreditunion.org

They also currently have a nice savings rate of 3.75% APY.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union CD Rates

Pentagon Federal Credit Union increased their certificate of deposit rates. They are federally insured by the NCUA.

Rates are as follows:

1-Year CD 2.95%
2-Year CD 3.25%
3-Year CD 4.01%
4-Year CD 4.01%
5-Year CD 4.60%
7-Year CD 4.60%

The rates are most competitive on the 3-year and longer CDs. PenFed’s NCUA# is 227. They were chartered in 1935 and as of March-2008 they have about $11.9BB in assets. They are quite large for a credit union. Their first quarter profit is a little over $34MM. Pretty Nice.
